Dean and Linda (Dutton) Howarter are celebrating their 60th year of marriage which began on May 22, 1955. They were married in Kincaid, moved to Iowa and then to Illinois where they settled in Monticello. They have been blessed with health, happiness, family and friends.
Dean is semi-retired from many years in agri-businesses. Linda was and is a homemaker. They are active in the First United Methodist Church in Monticello and are supporters of the University of Illinois athletic teams. Dean works tirelessly for Habitat for Humanity. Linda volunteers her time at Kirby Medical Center and is a loyal member of the Red Hat Society. They will celebrate this year with a family cruise in the Caribbean.
They have four children and gained three more through marriage: Deanna McCulley, Danette Howarter and Donna Dougherty, Dennis and Pam Howarter, and Darren and Wendy Howarter. They have six grandchildren: Sean McCulley, Ryan McCulley, Rachael McCulley, Shane Howarter, Adam Howarter and Haley Howarter.
