COLONY — Crest High School will send students to a national FCCLA competition in Anaheim, Calif., this summer, the first time Crest has earned a national qualifier in 11 years.

Two teams represented Crest’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter at the State Leadership Conference April 8 in Wichita.

Teams competed in STAR events (Students Taking Action with Recognition), or events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation.

Freshmen Anna Hermreck and Lindsey Godders earned a gold award with their project “Freshman Friendsmas” in the life event planning category. In addition, the students were the top scorers in their category and qualified for nationals.

Seniors Camryn Strickler and Regan Godderz earned a silver at state with their project “50 Stamps of Kindness” in a chapter service project category.
