Part of Jesus’ plan to redeem us was that we become children of God, (Heb 2:11.)
Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters. So it’s no surprise that Paul includes, in his letter to Timothy, instructions on the way believers should take care of each other, (1 Tim 5:1-16).
Men, talk to older men respectfully as you would your father and to younger men as you would your brother. Treat women as your mothers and sisters. Take care of the poor and needy, those who are truly alone with no means of support.
Do not promote idleness which leads to laziness and gossip. Instead, encourage people to plug into families, pitch in, and become involved in the lives of those you are surrounded by.
The way we treat and take care of each other is how the world will know we are Jesus’ disciples and are a part of God’s family.
