COLONY Bruce Symes gave the Communion meditation on Brokeness and Restoration at Colony Christian Church Sunday.
We are all broken and fall short of the glory of God, yet He is the Lord of everyone, whether they accept Him or not, Symes said. When we quit fighting Him, He becomes accessible to us. Jesus came into the world to do Gods will, to restore our relationship with God.
When you are discouraged, Symes said, take courage in the following verses: Isaiah 41:10, Matthew 11:28-30, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Revelation 21:5.
Pastor Chase Riebel gave the sermon on A famine of Gods Word. Amos was given a vision from God and told the Israelites that Jeroboams reign would end, they would be captives in exile, etc. They were robbing the poor and cheating the buyers of their grain. God said He would send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread or water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. God calls us each to be an Amos, to speak the word of God to others.
