COLONY Bruce Symes gave the Communion Meditation on the churches in Scotland around the 1800s. They had closed communion two to four times per year. In order to receive communion, the elders had to declare you worthy and then give you a communion token. 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 tells us to examine our own hearts before taking communion to make sure that we are worthy of the privilege.
Pastor Chase Riebel gave the sermon on week 15 of the Believe series, Total Surrender. James 4:7 tells us to submit ourselves to God and to resist the devil and he will flee from us. We need to dedicate ourselves to Gods purpose. Total surrender involves three things: 1. Denial (Luke 9:23-24), 2. Dedication (Romans 12:1-2), 3. Determination (Acts 20:24). Our lives are worth nothing unless we use it to finish the work that God has assigned to us. We must surrender our lives to God each and every day. To cultivate a life of surrender we must: realize that we dont have control, give up our own way, and we need to obey our master.
