COLONY — Darren McGhee gave the Communion Meditation at Sunday’s Colony Christian Church service on “Moms.” When Jesus was 12, he stayed behind in Jerusalem and it took Mary and Joseph three days to find him, McGhee noted.

Imagine how frantic Mary was. Mothers are made to be firm and loving, strict and kind. The Lord chose Mary to be Jesus’s mother to guide and direct Him. God chose your mother, too. So love her, even when you don’t agree with her.

Pastor Chase Riebel gave the sermon on kindness and goodness.

Deuteronomy 5:16 says to honor your father and mother and you will live a long, full life, Riebel said. Ephesians says to obey your parents and things will go well for you. When Moses’s mother placed him in the basket in the Nile to hide him, she made a good decision. Pharoah’s daughter showed kindness when she raised him as her own son.

Kindness is an intentional decision. God put our mother, and other women, in our lives, so we can learn this goodness and kindness from them.
