A flurry of activity is keeping CASA busy this fall.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates program of the 31st Judicial District hopes to recruit at least six new advocates by Jan. 1 to fill a glaring need throughout the district, including Allen County.
Organizers hosted a bake sale and recruitment at Iola’s Farm City Days celebration, Artist Alley in Chanute and Fredonia’s Fall Homecoming.
The Farm City Days booth included a basket raffle, won by Iolan Jim Heffernon.
Next on the CASA’s plate is the ninth annual Pinwheels for Prevention of Child Abuse campaign.
Customers can buy pinwheels at any of 50 Pump N Pete’s locations in southeast Kansas, including several in Iola, Gas, Humboldt and Moran.
Proceeds benefit CASA, which provides advocates to serve abused children in the Kansas court system.
