Carolyn Joyce Shepard and Ronald Dean Moore were united in marriage on April 1, 1967 at Central Avenue Christian Church, Parsons. The Rev. Alvin Daetwiler officiated.
Carolyn’s attendants were Zelda McColm, matron of honor, and Kathy Shepard and Margaret Sale, bridesmaids.
Jim Moore served as best man and Earl McColm and Paul Marquardt as groomsmen.
Both have long and varied careers.
Carolyn and Ron’s first home was in Rogers, Ark., where Ron worked as a stocker for Piggly Wiggly. The couple then worked in Tulsa where Ron was produce manager for Red Bud Grocery and Carolyn was a sales clerk for Will Rogers Fabric. Ron then worked for the Neosho Valley Creamery in Erie.
In 1969, the Moores owned and operated Moore’s Grocery and Restaurant in Galesburg and Ron also worked as a deputy for Neosho County.
In 1975, the Moores moved to Humboldt where Ron served as undersheriff for Allen County and Carolyn was an administrative assistant at Countryside Estate Nursing Home in Iola.
In 1980, Ron was elected sheriff of Allen County and Carolyn became administrator of Pinecrest Nursing Facility in Humboldt. The Moores purchased Iola Office Supplies in 1998.
Ron retired as sheriff in 2001 to manage the office supply store. Carolyn retired from Pinecrest in 2008 to work as office manager for 2RTool and Catalyst up to 2015. Carolyn currently is executive director of the Humboldt Housing Authority. Ron continues to work for the current owners of the office supply store.
The Moores have two children, Courtney Bauer and Shannon Moore and seven grandchildren, Dillon Aikins, Jackson Aikins, Mykayla Moore, Nick Bauer, Xavier Bauer, Hunter Bauer and Landon Bauer.
Ron and Carolyn enjoy long motorcycle rides and attending their grandchildren’s sporting events.
The Moores’ daughters are hosting an open house celebration for their parents 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the New Community Building in Riverside Park. They ask for celebratory cards, but no gifts.
