Pastor Steve Traw’s message Sunday —“With God in the Wilderness at the Laver” — was taken from Exodus 30:17-21.
The large laver, situated between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, was used to hold water. The laver was used by the priesthood to wash their hands and feet before entering the Holy of Holies. Today we are washed by baptism after coming to God. This was the second message in a series of seven on the seven articles of furniture for the altar in the tabernacle. The tabernacle went with them on their exodus in the wilderness.
Last week Pastor Traw explained Exodus means “the way out.”
For the Israelites in Egypt, the Exodus was their way out of bondage and the beginning of their journey to their promised land.
Myrna Wildschuetz played “The King Is Coming” for the prelude and “It Took a Miracle” for the offertory.
Special music was provided by Rita Sanders at the organ with “The Hallelujah Chorus” followed by Rev. Tom Bevard and Richard Klingensmith singing a duet “I Know Who Holds My Hand,” accompanied by Myrna at the piano.
Celebrating birthdays are, Allen Lankton, Feb. 29; Naomi Chambers on Tuesday and Aaron Hodgden on Thursday.
Bible Study with Pastor Traw on the book of Hebrews is at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
