“Bad Guys of the Last Days” was the title of Pastor Steve Traw’s Sunday message, taken from Revelation Chapter 13. This chapter introduces the Antichrist symbolized by a wild beast, rising out of the sea. The authority of the beast’s kingdom comes from Satan (verse 2).

Next, a second beast joins with the Antichrist. This second beast, symbolized as a “lamb with two horns,” rises out of the earth representing a man (false prophet) who falsely poses as Christ (verses 11-15).   The false prophet aligns with the Antichrist, deceiving the world with satanically inspired miracles (Matthew 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9).

These are Satan’s last days and his last chance to thwart God’s plan through the false trinity: Satan, the Antichrist and the false prophet.

Pianist Myrna Wildschuetz played “The Wayfaring Stranger” for the prelude and Rita Sanders played “Rejoice in the Lord” for the offertory.

Celebrating birthdays were Nebula, granddaughter of Linda and Lyle Bartholomew, on Sept. 23, Brad Fraker on Tuesday, and David Ensminger’s on Saturday.  A “surprise” birthday party is being planned for Mr. Ensminger on “Nov. 31.” (Note: The Nov. 31 date is part of an ongoing joke between Mr. Ensminger, Pastor Traw and the rest of the congregation. And no, there’s no party, either.)

Sunday marks the first Sunday of Advent.

Special music was provided by Barb and Brian Crites “Let’s Go Down in the River to Pray.”

Bible Study with Pastor Traw on the book of John is at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
