Carlyle Presbyterian Church
The Rev. Tom Bevard, founder and director of Iola-based Freedom Ministries, was guest speaker Sunday. He used Luke 5:1-11 Sunday as Scripture reference for his message, The Greatest is Love. In our daily living for God, His word tells us to put on the whole armor of God, Bevard said. And when nothing seems to be changing for the better, we should continue to stand and stay committed; remembering that in the end three things will remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Pianist Rita Sanders played Amazing Grace for the prelude and The Way That He Loves for the offertory.
Veterans were recognized and honored at Sundays service. Several shared memories. Merrill Hodgden told of his first day in the service. A steak dinner with all the trimmings was served and he thought to himself I can handle being in the Army the rest of my life; however, it wasnt always steak they served.
John Hillbrant recalled that he served in Germany prior to the Berlin Wall being built. When it was opened, all were happy.
Celebrating his birthday today is Kyle Crites.
The Church fellowship dinner will follow the morning worship services Sunday.
Bible study with Pastor Traw on the book of John is at 3 p.m., Tuesday.
