Pastor Steve Traw’s message Sunday was “Worthy is the Lamb,” taken from Revelation, Chapter 5.

The chapter details why we bring our praise to God, Creator and Redeemer of humankind.

Myrna Wildschuetz played “The Wayfaring Stranger” for the prelude and “Lonely Road Up Calvary’s Way” for the offertory.

Maude Burns celebrated her birthday Tuesday. Gale and Mary Ann Ritter’s 64th wedding anniversary was Sept. 4.

Phyllis Loomis and Richard and Cheryl Klingensmith provided an impromptu performance of “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.”

Pastor Traw leads Bible study on the book of John at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Country Club

Alice Dowell hosted the Carlyle Ladies Country Club meeting at Carlyle Fellowship Hall.

Also attending were Naomi Chambers, Jeanice Cress, Pauli Hawk, Joanne McIntyre, Joyce Sneed, Cheryl Klingensmith, Myrna Wildschuetz, June O’Dell and guest Maynard Cress.

For her program, Alice described how she enjoyed hunting elk in Chama, N.M. She brought an 8-point rack she hunted, field dressed and took to a processing plant in town. This elk provided 800 pounds of meat.

Alice has bagged an elk at each hunt she’s attended, but was unable to go this year.

Naomi will host the October meeting.

Around town

Spending Labor Day with Gene and Naomi Chambers were grandson Steve, granddaughter-in-law Laura and great-granddaughters Naomi and Piper Reece, Overland Park.
