Pastor Steve Traw’s message Sunday was “The Host of Heaven,” taken from Revelation Chapter 4. This chapter describes what John saw when a door was opened in heaven.  The heavenly activities he saw unfold in the heavenly Temple and are centered near God’s throne.

Pianist Myrna Wildschuetz played “Glory, Glory, Clear the Road” for the prelude and “Ivory Palaces” for the offertory.

Celebrating birthdays were Keysha Smith Wednesday and Brian Crites today. Richard Klingensmith played “I Love You Truly” in honor of wife Cheryl’s Thursday birthday.

Calvin and Evelyn Lay celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Friday.

David Compton, Grapevine, Texas, played the piano and sang a song he wrote entitled “You Are.”

Bible Study is at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Around town

The Conwells, Higginbothams, Guenthers and several friends met last weekend at the Carlyle Fellowship Hall to celebrate birthdays of Melvin Guenther and Linda Guenther.

Spending Labor Day with Gene and Naomi Chambers were granddaughter-in-law Laura and great-granddaughter Piper Reece, Overland Park.

Helping Greg McIntyre of East Carlyle celebrate his birthday with a covered-dish dinner on Labor Day were Zack, Kady, Zoey and Kline McIntyre, rural Yates Center, Branden, Ashton and Jaxen Birk, Gridley, Jack and Beverly Franklin, Jim Hinson and Joanne McIntyre, and of course, Greg’s wife, Jackie, Iola.
