Carlyle Country Club

The Carlyle Ladies Country Club met in the Carlyle Fellowship Hall with hostess, Jeanice Cress. Jeanice was assisted by Rita Sanders, who helped with refreshments.

Members present were Naomi Chambers, Jeanice Cress, Alice Dowell, Pauli Hawk, Pat Heinz, Phyllis Loomis, Joanne McIntyre, June O’Dell, Rita Sanders, Pat Shields and Myrna Wildeshuetz.

For her program, Jeanice presented a timely lesson from the K-State Research and Extension publication, Alzheimer’s 101. One in 10 people over 65 has Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia is a general term that describes the symptoms of loss of intellectual functioning. Jeanice went over 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and the steps toward better brain health. Exercise, diet, adequate sleep and socializing are some strategies to loving your brain. A lively discussion followed the presentation.

Joanne reported on a call from Phyllis Bradshaw, who enjoys reading the Carlyle news in The Iola Register.
