Jake Carlson and Kathleen Ann-Lorraine DelaCruz were married in a sunset ceremony under a wedding arbor on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2007, in the Red Rock Canyon of the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.
The bride is the daughter of Christopher DelaCruz and the late Jami E. Michaud and the stepdaughter of Kimberly Purl DelaCruz. Parents of the groom are Cherrie Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carlson. Special guests at the wedding were the bride’s grandparents, Bernie and Kathy Michaud.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, walked down the aisle to the song “Tenerife Sun.” She wore a wedding gown of ivory organza which featured a full skirt with a sheer overskirt flowing into a chapel-length train. The scoop-neck bodice and long sheer sleeves were overlaid in lace and the back was enhanced with a row of covered buttons. She wore a rhinestone headpiece across her forehead and rhinestone earrings and bracelet. Her fresh flower clutch bouquet of roses, wildflowers, brush groom grasses and greenery was tied with a long charcoal sash.
The bride was attended by her sisters, Aley DelaCruz Savage, Morgan Taylor DelaCruz, Alexis Rhiannon-Jean Wigton and Sydnie Kelly, her cousin Elizabeth Adams and the groom’s sister, Julie Carlson Morrison.
The groom was attended by his father, Richard Carlson, his brother-in-law, Chris Morrison, his friend Kevin Brown, the bride’s brothers, Grant Rion-Catlin DelaCruz and Alex Kelly, and the bride’s cousin Wesley Michaud.
Ring-bearer was Hunter Savage, nephew of the bride. Flower girls were Gabriella DelaCruz, niece of the bride, and Layton Jo Morrison and Chan Morrison, nieces of the groom, who wore sparkly tutu gowns of navy and burgundy. Honorary junior bridal attendants were Isabel Morrison and Lauren Marnane.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception and plated dinner were held in Colorado Springs at their Airbnb and featured a four-tier wedding cake atop a crystal pedestal cake plate. The candlelit table also held framed photographs of the bride’s late mother, Jami Michaud, and aunt Christi Michaud-Waterbury and the couple’s late grandparents, which were displayed in honor of their memory.
The wedding toasts and speeches were given by the bride’s friend, Marielle Maureen Melvin, the groom’s friend, Kevin Brown, the bride’s father, Chris DelaCruz and the groom’s mother, Cherrie Carlson.
After their honeymoon, the couple is at home in Derby.
