A burglary at a storage unit was interrupted by an Iola police officer, who arrested two suspects in the thefts.

Burglary stopped

Iola Police Lt. Chad Reeves was near the intersection of Kansas and Willow drives Thursday when he noted suspicious activity at the Gerkins Storage Units facility. 

Turns out there was a burglary in progress.

Reeves arrested Blade Marmon, 23, Iola, and Macy Bennett, 24, Stark, at the scene for suspicion of burglary and theft.

Officers also are requesting additional charges of carrying a firearm while committing a crime and being a fugitive from justice against Bennett.

Arrests reported

Iola police officers arrested Brooklyn Sanchez, Iola, for suspected criminal deprivation of property and not having a driver’s license Oct. 17 in the 200 block of North Washington Avenue.

John Zahm III, 40, Iola, was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of disorderly conduct Wednesday in the 100 block of East Madison Avenue.
