Hit and run reported

A motorist struck several mailboxes and trash cans along the 200 and 300 blocks of Jefferson Street in LaHarpe late Thursday evening, city officials reported, then left the scene without reporting the incident.

Officers are seeking a blue pickup or SUV, with damage likely along the right front fender.

Driver hurt

Iola police officers said Mickey Rutledge forgot to put her vehicle in park when she stopped in the 700 block of North Elm Street the morning of Dec. 15.

The vehicle rolled back and struck a gas meter, injuring Rutledge in the process, officers said.

No injuries

Iola police officers said Lee Phillips was turning from westbound onto Lincoln Street from North State Street Dec. 22, when his car collided head-on with a southbound car driven by Keith Powell. 

Neither driver was injured.

Incident reported

Iola police officers received a report Sunday of suspected parental custody interference.

A suspect was identified in the investigation, they said.
