MVHS claims League forensics title, students qualify for state

Marmaton Valley forensics students qualified for state speech and drama championships.

CHEROKEE — The Marmaton Valley High School forensics team claimed the Three Rivers League championship Saturday.

Several students qualified for the state speech and drama championships by placing first or second in their respective competitions.

Results follow:

Duet Acting — 1. Emily Robertson and Ava Newman; 7. Gabby Briggs and Kylie Whitcomb

Improvised Duet Acting — 3. Mason Ferguson and Brendon Newman

Informative Speaking — Mason Ferguson

Original Oration — 1. Sophia Heim; 2. Emily Robertson

Humorous Solo Acting — 1. Ava Newman; 3. Lily Mynatt

Serios Solo Acting — 4. Sophia Heim

Impromptu Speaking — 2. Lily Mynatt; 5. Ava Newman

Extemporaneous Speaking — 1. Sophia Heim; 6. Gabby Briggs.

MARMATON Valley also competed in Iola Feb. 3, where Emily Robertson and Ava Newman took fourth in duet acting.

On Feb. 10, Robertson took fourth and Sohia Heim fifth in original oration at Pittsburg.
