Library abuzz with activity

The Iola Public Library is considering keeping its meeting room open Saturdays for gamers.

Director Sharon Moreland is eager to hear from others in the community to determine if there’s interest.

Meanwhile, there are several activities planned at the library in the coming days.

Christina Turner, a child development specialist from the Kansas Children’s Service League, will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a parent-child workshop. The program is part of the library’s free monthlong series for parents and children ages 3 and under.

Subsequent workshop topics will be on nutrition Nov. 22 and music and movement on Nov. 29, with a series wrap-up. 

Participants must pre-register by calling the library.

Hope Unlimited representatives will be at the library at 6 p.m. Wednesday for “Love Shouldn’t Hurt,” a program that focuses on the different types of abuse and resources available for victims.

Hope Unlimited as served victims of domestic or sexual abuse in Iola since 1994.

Refreshments will be served.

The In Stitches crochet group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, although the chess club will not meet next week. The popular Thursday bridge lessons concludes at 7 p.m. in the meeting room.
