Iola UMW learns about food programs in the Middle East

Gerry Uphoff discussed food programs in the Middle East, including an urban garden in Gaza, at the Jan. 23 meeting of Iola United Methodist Women.

Regina Woodworth will distribute information to women in the church with an emphasis on those who work during the day.

Members shared reasons for their involvement and belief in UMW’s purpose.

Gerry led a lesson on Deaconesses and Home Missioners all supported by programs and funds provided by UMW. She spoke of the characteristics of women of the Bible and early predecessors of UMW who worked to improve lives and conditions of those in need in some way.

Marty Meadows, David Meadows and Gwen Teftt served refreshments.

The next meeting is at 10 .m. Feb. 27 at Calvary. Regina will lead the program. Gwen Teftt and Donna Beebe will serve as cohostesses. All women are invited.
