The youth summer reading programs at the Iola Public Library have been a big success, according to Lesa Cole, youth services librarian.

On Tuesday, July 26, more than 50 youths participated in T-shirt art day.

“It was a nice, warm day,” Cole said of the weather where the temperature was in the upper 90s.

The children enjoyed painting the shirts with supplies provided by the library, including paint, brushes, and an assortment of items, including  toothbrushes, sticks, fly swatters, poufs, spray bottles, jar lids, etc.

“They also played in the sprinkler and had some ice pops to cool off,” Cole said.
