Iola engineer celebrates 40 years working at KDOT

Iolan Glen Cunningham, an engineer with the Chanute materials lab of the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), is celebrating 40 years with the department.

Cunningham began working for KDOT in April 1980 with the regional materials office in Garnett. Through the years he also worked at the Iola construction office, where he performed testing procedures on U.S. 169 bridge decks.

In a KDOT press release, Cunningham said his favorite aspects of the job are the regular hours, flexible time schedule, good co-workers and good benefits.

Glen and wife Betty have been married 41 years. They have 12 children and 13 grandchildren.
