An Emporia author who writes a series of detective novels inspired by his grandfather will be in Iola Thursday to talk about his work.

Michael Graves is the author of the current Iola Reads book selection, “To Leave a Shadow.” He will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Creitz Recital Hall in the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.

Graves teaches intensive English and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Emporia State University. His writing has appeared in Cheap Detective Stories, Thorny Locust, Flint Hills Review and other publications.
