Children of Dean and LInda (Dutton) Howarter will host a reception May 10 to celebrate their parents’ 70th wedding anniversary.
Children Deanna, Danette, Denneis and Darrin will host the reception from 1 to 3 p.m., May 10, at Monticello (Ill.) United Methodist Church.
Dean Howarter, son of Claron and Evelyn Howarter married Linda Dutton, daughter of Lynn and May Dutton on May 22, 1955, at Kincaid United Methodist Church.
They were attended by Gerald Welsh, best man, Loretta Evans Sprague, maid of honor, Leila Welsh Thompson and Dolores Werich Prather, candlelighters, Jerry Dutton, ring bearer, and Louise Howarter Radcliff, flower girl.
The couple lived in Kincaid for several years, moved to Iowa for three years and then to Princeton, Ill., and now reside in Monticello, Ill.
Dean worked in ag sales and now sells crop insurance.
The Howarters have four children, Deanna Howarter Lester, Nashville, Tenn., Danette Howarter and Donna Dougherty, Grand Rapids, Mich., Dennis and Pam Howarter, Naperville, Ill., and Darren and Wendy Howarter, Meillin, Colombia, South America.
They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Howarters remain active with the FIrst United Methodist Church in Monticello and are supporters of the Monticello Golf Club.
Dean volunteers for Habitat for Humanity. Along with being a wonderful homemaker, Linda volunteered at Kirby Medical Center and participated in the Red Hat Society.
