The March 7 meeting of the City Slickers 4-H Club was called to order by President Carly Dreher at Neosho County Community College in Chanute.
Moira Springer and Rohan Springer led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Moira Springer led the club in singing “Old McDonald.” Club members answered roll call by saying what their favorite soda was. Sixteen club members and one community leader attended.
Leah Mueller discussed the fair theme this summer which will be the Roaring 20s. Kyser Nemecek read a letter from two nursing homes inviting the club to present some of their projects.
Ty Shaughnessy did a parliamentarian report on what a quorum is. A standing committee led by Cathy Dreher is going to figure out the details for our club tour and doing mini project talks at the nursing homes. Robbie Grisier, the community leader, discussed that certain projects such as robotics and rockets may be judged in early July instead of at the fair.
Steve Strickler has asked the club to help with recycling. Another possible service project is the LaHarpe cleanup in the fall.
In new business, Brody Nemecek moved to help with the cardboard recycling and asked Robbie Grisier to set up a date.
Carson Keller moved to bring our projects to the nursing home for our tour in July. The tour committee was appointed to iron out the details.
