Bruce Symes gave the Communion meditation on the rejection of Jesus. It’s curious that with all the prophecies about the coming Messiah, that the Jews rejected him. Rejection was necessary so the Good News could be spread throughout the world, Symes said. During Communion, we should contemplate how Jesus was rejected by officials and friends alike.

Pastor Chase Riebel gave the sermon “Sin and Hopelessness.” Man was created by God, willfully sinned against God and consequently became lost and without hope apart from Jesus. Sin brings hopelessness. We often find ourselves blaming others for our sins, or making excuses to justify what we’ve done wrong. If we submit to God, we’ll receive forgiveness and peace.
