The Iola Chamber of Commerce and Tourism annual dinner is Thursday, Feb. 24.
We invite our members to join us at the Allen County Country Club starting at 5:30.
Ethel Davis, a native of Iola, will be our guest speaker.
Davis will be speaking on intentionality and purpose regarding life’s journey. She addresses how people can maintain a positive outlook and remain motivated in today’s new and changing environment.
Davis is the CEO and portfolio manager of VZD Capital Management, an Overland Park investment firm..
VZD was founded on the legacy of Ethel’s parents, Vergie and Zether Davis, who passed away in 1983 and 2007, respectively.
Davis said she learned and applied her parents’ values of going beyond reasonable expectations and fostering long-lasting partnerships.
Davis is the first African American female to own 100 percent of a Registered Investment Advisory firm in the Midwest and few within the United States. She brings 25 years of investment experience from respected firms, including American Century, Fidelity Investments, Charles Schwab and Co., Inc and Paragon Capital Management, LLC.
Help us welcome Ethel Davis on Feb. 24
Random Act
Random Acts of Kindness Day on Feb. 17 is a day to observe kindness and pay it forward.
Demonstrating kindness doesn’t just feel great, it’s also good for your welfare. It has been suggested to decrease blood pressure, elevate happiness, reduce discomfort, improve healing, and raise recognition by contemporaries.
Listed are ways to participate in Random Acts of Kindness. I challenge you to select and do one if not more.
1) Stop to lend a hand
2) Spread some beauty.
