Pastor Steve Traw based his sermon on Mark 11: 1-11, “The Ride Into the Holy Land” for the Palm Sunday service. Jesus’ disciples went to Jerusalem to bring him a colt. They covered it with their own clothing for Jesus to ride on. Others laid their clothes on the ground for him to travel upon.

Those that led the way cried out saying,”Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest.”

Riding a donkey was a tradition for a leader of the time to ride. The victor rides a donkey. Jewish leaders wanted to silence Jesus, but planned on doing it quietly later, but God had other plans. Christ was sentenced to die on the day of Pentecost.

Maundy Thursday is April 17 and there will be a service at 7 p.m. at the church. Easter breakfast will be a potluck breakfast at 8 a.m. and will be followed by an Easter Sunday service.
