D. A. McDonald, well-known Iola businessman, filed this afternoon as a candidate for mayor.

Sunday afternoon, the Girl Scouts of Iola will celebrate 50 years of Girl Scouting by presenting “The Golden Promise” — a ceremony using songs and readings — in the junior high auditorium.
The committee in charge of the program is composed of Mrs. H. E. Stith, Mrs. W. H. Woodworth, Mrs. Le Roy Hostetler, Mrs. R. L. Boman, Mrs. Lawrence Copening, Mrs. Richard Cook and Miss Judith Bragg. The Senior Scouts of Troop 71 have spent many hours preparing a program to which the public is invited.
