102nd birthday milestone

Ruth Wood celebrated her 102nd birthday Monday with her daughter, Susan Haddan of Stark, and others at Greystone Assisted Living Facility. Wood grew up in Elsmore until she got married and moved to a farm near Moran, where she enjoyed gardening and activities until the age of 99 when she moved to Greystone. She recalled walking or riding her horse three miles to school as a child. Rationing supplies like sugar during World War II was another memory. She now enjoys playing Bingo, which she is very good at. Her other children are Gary Wood of Moran, Glenda Heskett of Tonganoxie and Paula Voris of Wichita.
