Daily bus service from Iola to Wichita going west, and from Iola to Joplin going east and south, with stops in between is available from Beeline Express, a commercial bus service.
In a news release from Barbara Anderson, a Kansas Department of Commerce project manager for southeast Kansas, the service for rural residents began in August 2018.
The one-way fare to go to either Wichita or Joplin from Iola is $34. The bus line makes stops in Fort Scott and Pittsburg en route to Joplin and in Eureka and El Dorado en route to Wichita.
Jefferson Lines also provides daily bus service from Iola to Kansas City for $45.
