Recovery House open for tours, author talk

The event begins at 8 a.m. with a coffee hour and ribbon cutting ceremony at 9, followed by opportunities to view the facility.

An open house is planned for Tuesday at the Southeast Kansas Recovery House, 16 N. Buckeye St.

The event begins at 8 a.m. with a coffee hour and ribbon cutting ceremony at 9, followed by opportunities to view the facility.

At noon, the Southeast Kansas  Substance Misuse Prevention Coalition will have a meeting.

At 1 p.m. The Recovery House Book Club will have a special presentation with author Sam Quinones. 

He will discuss his book, “The Least of Us: True Tales of America and Hope in the Time of Fentanyl and Meth.”

The book is available for purchase. It was named one of Apple’s Best Books of 2021, longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal, and shortlisted for the Zocalo Book Prize. He is also author of the award-winning “Dreamland, The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic.”  

From 2:15 to 6 p.m., the Recovery House will be open for tours, games and networking.

A Narcotics Anonymous meeting follows at 7.
