Mental health will be at the forefront of a festival this month in Humboldt.
The Peace of Mind Festival 2020 is planned for 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Humboldt High School.
Students from preschool through 12th grade are invited, as well as parents and other community members. A pasta bar supper will be provided, and T-shirts are available to those who register by March 12. A prize giveaway also is planned. There is no charge to attend.
Featured speaker is Kurt Jackson, a small business entrepreneur turned motivational speaker who teaches students how to achieve their goals by using self-discipline.
Younger students, preschool through fifth grade, will eat supper and have separate activities that focus on mental health and coping skills. They will make a coping skill toolbox, calm down bottles and participate in fun activities.
Older students and adults will eat supper and listen to the speaker before attending a series of empowerment sessions on such topics as stress and anxiety; depression and suicide; relationships and trauma; dangers of social media; and parenting and relationships.
