The Allen County Sheriff’s Department will step up traffic patrols, particularly around schools, Oct. 25-29 as part of a larger “Ticket or Treat” campaign.
Deputies will pay close attention to motorists who aren’t wearing seat belts, noting statistics that indicate parents who properly wear seatbelts almost universally have children properly secured as well.
Seat belt violators will be cited.
“In the health field, they talk about making sure children have received their immunizations to prevent deadly diseases,” Sheriff Bryan Murphy said in a press release. “But what many parents don’t think about is that wearing a seatbelt properly is the best prevention of serious injury or death in a vehicle. This isn’t new information.”
