Former Iola residents Robert and Pat Barkdoll, Galesburg, Ill., celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday through Monday in the Chicago, Ill., area.
Robert Barkdoll and Patricia Lin Thornton were married June 4, 1971, in the Wesleyan Church on North Street in Iola.
The couple have lived in Iola, Boone, Iowa, and Galesburg. She has worked for Walmart for the past 21 years and previously was a homemaker raising their three children. He has worked for Caterpillar in Peoria, Ill., for the last 15 years and previously worked for Gates Corporation for 19 years.
The couple have nine grandchildren.
