James and Judy Heinrich, LaHarpe, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Iola Senior Center.
James Allen Heinrich and Judy Mae Overy were married Dec. 2, 1960, in the Church of God in Elmore, Ohio.
The couple met in Iola at a picnic celebrating his homecoming from the U.S. Navy in 1957. They had a three-year courtship.
Her parents were in the construction business in Ohio. After the couple were married, they traveled with the construction company for several years until settling in Pennsylvania. He was an ironworker. The couple made their home in Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania before moving to Iola in 1972.
He worked at IMP Boats and then for the county until his retirement in 2000.
She had an Avon route for seven years, worked at Jefferson Elementary School as a lunch room supervisor and for Gates Corporation for 22 years. She retired in 2002.
The couple enjoy traveling and visiting grandchildren. He is an avid gardener.
Hosting the anniversary celebration will be their children and grandchildren, Julie and Rick Larkey, Jerad and Ryan and Jeff and Lesa Heinrich, Tyler and Brett.
