Homer and Marilyn Payne, Iola, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 1.
Homer Payne and Marilyn Marple were married July 1, 1961, in Garnett. They have made their home in Iola and have two children, Tim Payne and his wife, Karen, West Springfield, Mass., and Craig Payne and his wife, Patricia, Iola.
Homer worked for Allen County Public Works Department for 39 years, retiring in 2000. Marilyn worked for Sears and Roebuck Company in Iola until it closed. She then worked at Iola’s Walmart for 15 years, retiring in 2009.
The Paynes have five grandchildren, Kayla Gallagher and Taylor and Ryan Payne, West Springfield, and Audrey and Carlie Payne, Iola.
