Harold Dwight and Averil Jean (Hawes) Henry were married June 8, 1952, at the Bethel Church of Christ near Whitewater High School. Dwight graduated from Newton High School; Averil from Whitewater High.
Dwight served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, then graduated from Freed Hardeman College in Henderson, Tenn., Harding University in Searcy, Ark., and obtained a master’s degree at the University of Wichita. He also completed some post-graduate schooling at the University of Kansas.
He worked for Beech Aircraft and taught school in southeast Missouri, rural Kansas and in Douglas, Haviland and Wichita. He also served as a minister for the Church of Christ and worked as a carpenter during the summer.
Averil graduated from Kansas State University and taught at rural schools in Butler and Harvey counties. She also taught home economics in Augusta and Abilene.
The Henrys live in Bronson.
Their children are Mary Ann Snyder, Edmond, Okla., Carolyn Henry, Stillwater, Okla., and Lora Holeman, Bronson. They have two grandsons, Justin and Will Holeman, Bronson. Dwight has a sister, Margaret Yates, Wichita. Averil has a sister, Donice Pruitt, Abilene, Texas.
