Daryl and Jan Heslop, Neosho Falls, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary today.
The couple were married June 24, 1961, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett.
The couple have four children and 12 grandchildren Cabrini Plummer and her husband, Mike, Fredonia, with Alyssa, Luke, and Micaela; Craig Heslop and his wife, Tammy, Melvern, with April Smith, Topeka, and Daniel and Julie; Valerie Bollig, Neosho Falls, with Matthew, Jason, and Paul; and Erin Dix and her husband, Tom, Neosho Falls, with James (deceased) and Jonathan Schmidt and Jacob Rhoads. They also have three great-grandchildren Avery, Aiden and Ainsleigh Smith.
Daryl retired in 2008 after 48 years as a self-employed tile and marble setter. Jan also retired in 2008 after 20 years as a registered nurse employed by the State of Kansas. The couple raised their children in Topeka and then settled on a small farm where they now enjoy tending an orchard, fishing, learning to golf, caring for their many cats and dogs and spending time with their grandchildren. Daryl continues to stay busy with his many building and computer projects (including Facebook), and Jan wishes she had more time for her crafts which include crocheting, decoupage, upholstery and jewelry making.
