Residents who wish to receive emergency alerts from Allen County may sign up through a text message on their smartphones.
The countys 911 Communications Center announced Monday the Text To Enroll program.
To register, text AllenCountyKS to 99411, at which point the user will receive a link to the countys CodeRED emergency notification system.
CodeRED sends alerts in cases of inclement weather, evacuation notices, missing persons and other disaster response efforts.
Residents can register multiple phones to receive alerts on each. Email notification also is available.
