At the Kansas-Missouri Chapter of the American Foundrymens Society in Kansas City last night, six employees of the Walton Foundry here were honored for their years in the foundry industry. Frank Walton and Allen Heinrich received 45-year pins, Gene Walton received a 35-year pin, and Richard Johnson, Mary Laughlin and Don Hufferd received 25-year pins.

An air pollution control system, costing about $120,000, is scheduled to be installed at the Walton Foundry this year. Looking beyond that, it doesnt appear it will be too long before we will expand our production capabilities, Ottmar Lang, plant superintendent said. In the past three years employment at the plant has more than doubled to 75 persons, Lang said. The foundry has orders which will take more than a year to fill, he added.
29 Sen. Robert Dole was the keynote speaker at the Fifth District Republican Womens meeting Saturday at Allen County Community Junior College. Also in attendance were State Senator Bob Talkington, Rep. Joe Skubitz, who is running for re-election, State Sen. Bob Storey, who is seeking the GOP nomination as its candidate for attorney general, and State Treasurer Tom Van Sickle, who is opposing Storey for the AG nomination.
