Eddie D. Jeffers, Iola, and Vernon Ard, Elsmore, were killed in a light plane crash near Elsmore Sunday. The men were scanning the countryside looking for a wolf hunt that they thought was taking place in the area. They had hoped to assist in herding wolves toward hunters.

The regional Class A basketball tournament will be in Iola at Riverside Park tomorrow night. Participating schools include Yates Center, Cherokee, Garnett, Girard, Eureka, Humboldt, Iola and Burlington. The semi-finals will be played Thursday with the regional title to be decided Friday. The tournament is the first regional to be held in Iola. The state tournament is in Salina. Floyd Smith, IHS principal, is manager of the tournament here.

The long flight from Communist Russia which began in Hungary in 1945, ended for the Joseph Gsia family yesterday on a farm south of Bronson owned by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cramm. Mr. and Mrs. Csia, their son and daughter, Eva, 19, and son, Paul, 17, are the first displaced persons to reach Allen County. Gsia is an experienced farmer.
