NEOSHO FALLS Chuck Edwards planted 700 Scotch pine trees on his fathers farm seven years ago. Since then he has planted more on that property and on his own and plans to plant 1,000 more a year until there is no more room. Edwards his wife, Sue, are offering Christmas trees for sale this year for the first time.

The temperature fell to 18 degrees below zero on Dec. 22, setting a record for December and coming within 2 degrees of the all-time low temperature for Iola.

Larry Macha has reached agreement to purchase the old Tyson Poultry property at the east edge of Iola. Macha said he had no immediate plans for the property, other than were going to clean it up as soon as the weather permits so that it wont be so much of an eyesore.
