LeRoy Roedel, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Roedel, Elsmore, is Allen Countys latest polio victim. His local physician said today that he became ill last Sunday and was taken to the Kansas University Medical Center last Monday. Both of the boys legs are paralyzed to some extent and he has been in a respirator to assist his breathing.

Polio has stricken at least five persons in Allen County and vicinity within the past few days. The victims vary in age from 14 to 62 years and come from rather widely separated communities.

HUMBOLDT Helena Weber, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Weber of rural Humboldt, is in grave condition in St. Francis Hospital in Wichita suffering from polio. She is the second victim in Humboldt and the second in the Weber family within a week. She has been placed in an iron lung in Wichita.

Television has arrived in Iola. A.R. Murphey declares the reception he and a few others watched at the Aladdin Store last night was very good. Two programs from the Kansas City Stars new transmitting station were received. They are the first reported to be seen here.
