MORAN — With only two home playing dates in 2010, and both in the same week, Marmaton Valley High’s volleyball team made the most of Senior Night Thursday.
The Wildcats and their guests — Sedan, Caney Valley and Oswego — gave volleyball fans plenty of action. Marmaton Valley went 2-1 on its home court.
“All the games were great but nerve-racking for a coach. We had a great crowd and our girls made sure our seniors had a great night on their final home matches,” said Lindsay Ermel, MVHS head coach.
The Wildcats defeated Sedan 25-23, 27-25. Caney Valley got past Marmaton Valley 25-23, 26-24.
Marmaton Valley and Oswego went three games and it was down to the wire. The Cats came out on top 23-25, 25-18, 27-25.
“Our serving helped us a lot in all the matches. We only missed one serve against Sedan and had only eight missed serves the whole night,” Ermel said.
“The girls are playing very well as a team. Our seniors have stepped up and shown solid leadership on the court.”
Senior Cheyanne Miller had 17 kills and senior Maggie Meiwes downed 11 kills. Kayla McNutt, another senior, had nine kills and senior Morgan Henry  had five kills.
Senior Hollie Sparks had five digs. Leading the Cats in digs was Kailey Boyd with 31 and Kacie Shadden with 18.
Kaitlin Ensminger served 12 aces in the three matches. Hannah Endicott had seven aces.
Lydia Lance was credited with 36 set assists and Molly McEwan had 21. As a team, the Wildcats put up 22 blocks in the three matches.
Marmaton Valley is 8-15 on the season.
In other matches, Caney Valley beat Oswego 25-22, 25-20; Oswego beat Sedan 18-25, 25-16, 25-23; Caney Valley defeated Sedan 20-25, 25-20, 25-19.
