MVHS sweeps past final two matches to end regular season

The Marmaton Valley volleyball team had a strong ending to their regular season on Tuesday at Uniontown, beating both Pleasanton and Uniontown.
The Lady Wildcats are now 19-17 on the season.
“Tuesday night was a fantastic night for us,” head coach Terra Kegler said. “The girls finally played to their full potential. They had fun and worked together. We needed these wins to boost their confidence going into sub-state on Saturday. Every girl stepped up and did their job.”
Marmaton Valley started off with a 2-0 win over Pleasanton (25-17, 25-19).
Bailey Griffith led the way with 10 points, six kills and two blocks.
Trinitee Gutierrez had seven points and Megan Ensminger six points. Shayla Brooks had six kills and Patricia Outlan three kills and three blocks.
The Lady Wildcats then had a three-set battle, beating the host Lady Eagles 2-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-21).
Paige Becker had a team-high 14 points while Patricia Outlan held down the fort at the net with 11 kills and blocks.
Ensminger had seven points and four kills, Shayla Brooks had seven kills, Clara Boyd had six points, and Griffith had six points and four kills. Makayla Brooks had five kills.
Marmaton Valley will be back in action on Saturday for the 1A-DI Chetopa sub-state tournament where they’ll take on St. Paul in the first round.
