Ivy Bell (Caudell) Audiss, 87, left this life Jan. 14, 2013, after a fall that occurred at her home. She died peacefully surrounded by family at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington.
Ivy Bell Caudell was born April 27, 1925, in Buffalo, the daughter of Robert Thomas Caudell and Bessie May (Madison). Ivy Bell grew up in rural Wilson and Woodson counties.
Ivy married Orval Wesley Audiss on Sept. 13, 1941. The couple was blessed with nine children, Bud, Karran, Norval, Deanna, Aaron Jay (A.J.), Belva, Elda, Mike and Zandi. In the summer of 1969 she began her walk with God, to which she remained faithful to the very end.
The couple raised their family in rural Woodson and Wilson counties and was a big pillar in their family as well as their community. Ivy Bell enjoyed being a homemaker, she was always busy whether it be cooking at the school or mending clothes, and she was a mother and grandmother to everyone. God gave her the gift of cooking, which she shared with her community and afar. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls, breads, sugar cookies and potato salad. Ivy enjoyed life. She was often seen around Yates Center attending various activities that involved her family or friends. Many will miss her but her memory will remain with us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orval, on April 15, 1991; a son, A.J., on March 25, 2007; seven brothers; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Bud Audiss and wife Reva Jean, Chanute, Karran Driskill and husband Larry, Kenai, Alaska, Norval Audiss, Deanna Cummings and husband Rick, Yates Center, Belva Saubers and husband Royce, Buffalo, Elda Yow and husband Clete, Yates Center, Mikeal Audiss and wife Diane, Benedict, and Zandi Audiss, Olathe; and by 28 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Ivy also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.
Services for Ivy are at 10 a.m. Friday at the Woodson County 4-H Building located on the Woodson County Fairgrounds, Yates Center. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo. No formal visitation is planned. Ivy will lie in state today at Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center.
